Uruguay vs ParaguayIt was thanks to the 3-0 win over Paraguay in the final that Uruguay lifted the 2011 Copa America trophy and they now aim to secure their progress into the knockout stage with a similar result.

La Albirroja have since twice shared spoils with La Celeste in the World Cup qualifiers and another draw could prove enough to take both sides through.

Uruguay ended a long wait for a major trophy by winning the 2011 Copa America, while they also managed to show some promise at the 2014 World Cup.

But, while they did well to pip Italy and England to a place in the knockout phase, La Celeste were soundly beaten by Colombia few days later.

And with star striker Luis Suarez still serving a ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini, it is hardly surprising that Oscar Tabarez’s side enjoyed a mixed success at the start of the tournament in Chile.

La Celeste defeated Jamaica despite experiencing all sorts of problems, but they could do little to avoid a defeat in the second group match against Argentina.

Uruguay will now have to make do without the suspended defender Diego Godin, with Sebastian Coates set to replace him.

According to the latest reports, the likes of Abel Hernandez and Carlos Sanchez are expected to start, with Nicolas Lodeiro and Cristian Rodriguez dropping to the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Muslera – M. Pereira, Gimenez, Coates, A. Pereira – C. Sanchez, Arevalo Rios, A. Gonzalez, Rolan – Cavani, Hernandez.

After finishing the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign at rock bottom of the South American Zone, Paraguay arrived at the 2015 Copa America low on confidence.

La Albirroja looked unable to match star-studded Argentina side in the opening match, having been two goals down at half-time, but they then produced an amazing comeback.

Paraguay showed a different side in the second period, scoring two goals to earn a valuable point and no doubt that result was a major confidence boost.

La Albirroja then went on to defeat minnows Jamaica and are now available at 4.00 (3/1) to defeat Uruguay as well and secure their place in the quarter-finals.

There have been some bad news for coach Ramon Diaz as defender Miguel Samudio suffered a muscle injury and he has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash.

Meanwhile, Antony Silva looks set to continue in goal despite the fact that first choice keeper Justo Villar has recovered from injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Silva – B. Valdez, Da Silva, Aguilar, Piris – Gonzalez, V. Caceres, Ortigoza, Benitez – Bobadilla, Santa Cruz.
