Valencia vs Swansea preview

Valencia vs SwanseaThree straight defeats in La Liga should make Valencia extremely motivated to put an end to their barren run against Swansea, who are buoyed by two very good results in the Premier League.

This season was always going to be difficult for les Che, with so many important players leaving and the club making some dubious signings in the summer transfer window.

Talented boss Miroslav Djukic was expected to pick up where he left off with Real Valladolid, but the former Valencia defender has found it hard to cope with the demands of his new job.

Los Che may have started the season with a hard-fought victory over Malaga, but then came three consecutive defeats in the league, meaning the players’ confidence is at an all time low.

Even if the boss is likely to make wholesale changes to the squad, the hosts will be very motivated to finally return to winning ways, and they are 1.80 (4/5) with Betfred to do so.

Michel Herrero misses out through suspension, whereas Pablo Piatti is not yet ready to return from injury he picked up last week.

Vicente Guaita, Victor Ruiz, Antonio Barragan and Paco Alcacer are expected to play their first minutes of the season as Miroslav Djukic looks to rest his key men.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Guaita – Barragan, Rami, Ruiz, Bernat – Fuego, Parejo – Feghouli, Banega, Pabon – Alcacer.

Repeating last year’s performances when the Swans lifted the Capital One Cup and established themselves as a top table side in the Premiership was never going to be an easy task for the Welsh side.

In spite of some excellent additions to the squad, Swansea experienced problems early on, losing their first two Premier League matches, although they did well to eliminate Malmo and Petrolul and reach the Europa League group stages.

Michael Laudrup’s side managed to return to winning ways as they defeated West Bromwich on the road, while the Monday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool should keep them in good stead for the Valencia clash.

With Premier League campaign obviously the priority, the boss is expected to make some changes, although he will also want to do well in club’s first ever Europa League campaign.

Seeing as how Valencia will also be missing their key players, there may be some value in betting on draw, priced 3.80 (14/5) at Stan James.

Pablo Hernandez and Neil Taylor miss out through injury, but Jonathan De Guzman and Jose Canas are among those expected to step in.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Vorm – Rangel, Williams, Amat, Tiendalli – Shelvey, Canas – Pozuelo, De Guzman, Routledge – Bony.
