Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said that Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest modern day managers as he prepares his team to take on Spurs this week.

The Portuguese boss is currently in charge of his third team in the Premier League, having taken the reins at both Chelsea and Manchester United. Despite not having lifted a major trophy since the Europa League title with the Red Devils in 2017 and earning a few critics in the time since, Wilder maintains that his opposite number will go down in history as one of the greatest coaches of the modern era.

Talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the match, the Blades boss said: “Without a shadow of a doubt he is one of the greatest of the modern era of football. He has won trophies everywhere he has been.

“You’re always judged aren’t you? You’re judged as a manager, you’re judged as a player and you’re always judged as a team in the short term.

“For me, the only time to reflect on it is when he finishes and that’s the only time to make a judgement on it in my opinion. I’m a big fan of him.”

Coming into the two teams’ clash at Bramall Lane on Thursday, both teams are chasing a place in Europe. Mourinho’s Spurs are the favourites to claim victory and can be backed at 1/1 with Betfair, whilst the Blades sit at a price of 3/1.
