Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been dealt with a major blow as it was revealed that captain Steven Gerrard could miss two months of action with a groin injury.

The Reds skipper has been struggling with injury throughout last season, but he was expected to be fit for the start of new Premiership campaign.

However, Sunday Mirror reports that the England international has suffered a new groin injury that could see him spend next two months on the sidelines.

Gerrard’s injury comes at a bad time for Liverpool as the Reds are hoping they will finally be able to enter the title race.

Kenny Dalglish’s side have shown a lot of potential in the closing stages of the previous Premiership campaign and they have been tipped to mount a serious title challenge this term.

With Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing all arriving this summer, King Kenny should be able to field a very good side even without Steven Gerrard, and you should know the Reds are 2.25 (5/4) with Sportingbet to achieve a top 4 finish.
