Manchester United return to Old Trafford following the hard-fought victory over West Brom, with the Red Devils looking to keep the rich vein of form when they play host to Tottenham.

After their impressive victory over City in the Community Shield, United showed a lot of weaknesses at the Hawthorns and they were lucky to bring all three points from the outskirts of Birmingham.

The opening win was marred by injuries to Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who both had to leave the pitch early on and are now out of contention for this clash.

To add insult to injury, keeper David De Gea produced another disappointing performance, so United’s back line is likely to face a tough task against free-scoring Tottenham side.

The problems don’t end there as Javier Hernandez, Rafael, Antonio Valencia and Darren Fletcher are still not ready to feature, but at least Michael Carrick and Patrice Evra are set to return.

Despite all their worries, United are still considered favourites to win this clash, with William Hill paying 1.67 (2/3) on home win.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea – Smalling, Evans, Jones, Evra – Cleverley, Carrick – Nani, Rooney, Young – Welbeck.

Tottenham are one of the two Premiership sides that weren’t in action last weekend as their clash with Everton was called off because of the riots in North London, meaning that the game at Old Trafford is seen as an official start of the season for Spurs.

Harry Redknapp’s side made sure they enter the United game in great spirits, having produced some great football to beat Hearts 5:0 in their Europa League clash and they are now looking to continue the impressive scoring form at Old Trafford.

Taking into account that United will be without Vidic, Ferdinand and Rafael, you should know that Stan James pays 1.50 (1/2) on Tottenham to score at Old Trafford.

Luka Modric is set to start after recovering from a groin problem, even though he could be soon leaving Spurs, but Peter Crouch is a doubt with an ankle injury.

Ledley King, William Gallas, Sandro, Jermaine Jenas, Wilson Palacios and Alan Hutton are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Gomes – Corluka, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto – Lennon, Modric, Huddlestone, Bale – van der Vaart – Defoe.
