Manchester United vs Chelsea preview

Just few months ago Manchester United had a 15-point advantage over Chelsea, but the Red Devils are now in a position to take at least one point from this clash or risk losing the Premiership title.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have been in pretty good form of late and their defeat to Arsenal should be seen as a one-off result rather than anything else.

Having already beaten Chelsea three times this season, twice in the Champions League and once in the Community Shield, United look like favourites in this match and they are 2.40 (7/5) with Paddy Power to claim maximum points at Old Trafford.

After resting almost all starters against Schalke, Sir Alex Ferguson is set to field the strongest possible line-up in what is likely to be a title decider.

Darren Fletcher is likely to play some part after finally recovering from a virus, whereas Patrice Evra should be fit to play after shaking off a minor knock.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Van der Sar – Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra – Scholes, Carrick – Valencia, Rooney, Giggs – Hernandez.

Just a couple of months ago it looked as though Chelsea would not be able to return to the title race, but the Blues have really impressed in April and now have a great chance to gain the upper hand in the title race.

Chelsea started the five-match winning run in the Premiership after the home defeat to United in the Champions League quarter-final, although we have to say four of those matches were played at home and that Blues only beat West Brom on the travels.

Nonetheless, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now full of confidence and don’t seem to be feeling the pressure since nobody expected them to return to the title race, which could give them the upper hand in this tie. Chelsea are 3.25 (9/4) with William Hill to win at Old Trafford.

Carlo Ancelotti has absolutely no injury worries at the moment, but he has to decide whether to start Fernando Torres up front.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz, Cole – Essien, Ramires, Malouda, Lampard – Drogba, Anelka.
