Manchester United vs Blackpool

Manchester United will have the chance to celebrate the Premiership title in front of the packed Old Trafford, so there is every chance that Red Devils will be very motivated for the win. Blackpool are in a position to need all three points from Old Trafford in order to stay alive, but that looks like too big a task for the Seasiders.

United deserved the title

Manchester United had a very slow start to the season and even though their results were pretty good the standard of their performances hinted that this could be a very disappointing season for the Red Devils. However, as the season progressed Sir Alex Ferguson’s side kept raising their form with the amazing run of results in the crucial stage of the season helping them not only make a giant step towards the league title but also saw them make it to the Champions League final. With the clash against Barcelona due next weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson is set to rest several key players, but there is no doubt that even a second string United side have got more than enough quality to win this game. Blackpool players could have a big motivation to win this match, but it is highly unlikely that United will miss the opportunity to end the domestic season with a win at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson hinted that Van der Sar, Evra, Scholes, Anderson, Berbatov and Fletcher will be in the side, but John O’Shea and Owen Hargreaves miss out.

Tough luck for the Tangerines

Blackpool seemed to have done enough to survive their first season in top flight following the impressive start to the season, but the Tangerines have learned the hard way that Premier League is a fierce competition. It looks as though Ian Holloway’s side relaxed a bit too early, with the run of just 3 wins in 21 games in 2011 seeing them slip into the relegation zone. The Seasiders now face almost impossible task as they need a victory at Old Trafford in order to stay alive, which looks like too much to ask for considering Manchester United won last 16 games at home. The fact that Alex Ferguson is set to field a weakened side could be seen as a lifeline for Blackpool, but seeing that United’s second string are stronger than most Premiership sides is something that we shouldn’t forget. Al things considered, Blackpool look destined for the drop.

Ian Holloway will have full squad to choose from, but that is unlikely to increase his side’s chances of wining this game.

Verdict

Manchester United are eager to celebrate the title with a win in front of their own fans and home win should never come into question. Blackpool should never have come into the situation where they need maximum points from Old Trafford to survive.
