Manchester United set to sign Ashley Young

Manchester United are set to complete the second big name signing of the week as the Red Devils are on the verge of bagging Aston Villa’s Ashley Young.

United have reportedly matched Villa’s valuation of the player and all that’s left is for Young and his representatives to agree personal terms, meaning the transfer should be completed by the end of the week.

The England international will reportedly cost £20 million, which is a big price to pay for the player in his final year of contract, but this just shows how keen Six Alex Ferguson is on the versatile midfielder.

Earlier this week, United have signed Blackburn defender-cum-midfielder Phil Jones for the fee of £16.5 million, with the two transfers proving Ferguson means business.

A deal has also been agreed for Atletico Madrid keeper David De Gea, worth £18.5 million, which will take United’s total spending in this transfer window to whopping £55 million.

While the three new players will definitely improve the quality of the squad, Ferguson have yet to sign a replacement for Paul Scholes, which looks like a burning issue at the moment, so we can expect to see at least one more player arrive to Old Trafford this summer.

As it now seems, United will enter the new season significantly reinforced, so nobody would be surprised if they win more than one major trophy next term. William Hill has already announced prices for trophy multiples. Full list available on William Hill website.
