Wednesday evening’s game at Goodison Park sees fifth place Everton host an Arsenal side who sit just one place and one point below them.

Despite their lofty position, the hosts go in to the game with just one win in seven; Norwich City scoring late on last time out to deny David Moyes men of all three points.

Top scorer Marouane Fellaini is set to return to the starting line-up following a one-match suspension, while Darron Gibson and Kevin Mirralas should be available for selection after recovering from hamstring injuries.

Croatian Nikica Jelavic has five goals to his name so far this term, and the striker is favourite to open the scoring, with a variety of firms offering a price of 7.5 (15/2).

Everton go in to the game as slight favourites, with most bookmakers giving odds of 2.5 (6/4). Arsenal are available at a best price of 3.0 (2/1) with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is 3.6 (13/5) with Stan James.

Arsenal will be also be boosted by the return of their top scorer, following Theo Walcott’s recovery from a shoulder injury though Tomas Rosicky, Abou Diaby and Andre Santos remain side-lined.

Olivier Giroud, whose substitution in the goalless draw at Aston Villa last time out caused unrest amongst a selection of Gunners supporters, is set to lead the line, and many firms have the Frenchman price at 8.0 (7/1) to get the first goal of the game, whilst former Toffee Mikel Arteta is a 21.0 (20/1) shot with Bet Victor.

A Thomas Vermaelen goal was enough to give Arsene Wenger’s men all three points in last season’s corresponding fixture eight months ago – the last time Everton tasted defeat in front of their own fans.

With the hosts having not kept a clean sheet in their last eight games, you might want to take advantage of the 2.1 (11/10) on offer from Sky Bet for them to concede the first goal.

Alternatively, with both teams having such a similar record so far this term, you could do worse than back a high scoring draw, with William Hill offering 15.0 (14/1) for the score to end 2-2.
