Sunday’s early afternoon game at Goodison Park sees Everton host Liverpool in the 219th Merseyside derby.

In the all-time record the Red half of the city has the better of their neighbours with 87 wins. Everton have emerged victorious on 66 occasions, with the tie finishing all square 65 times.

However, it is Everton who go in to this match as favourites with William Hill offering a price of 2.7 (17/10). Liverpool are available at 2.9 (19/10) with the same firm while the draw is 3.3 (23/10) with Bet 365.

The hosts hope to welcome back midfielder Marouane Fellaini and defender Tony Hibbert from their respective injuries, though Steven Piennar serves a one match ban following his dismissal in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Queen’s Park Rangers. Darren Gibson remains their only injury worry.

Top scorer Nikica Jelavic is 8.0 (7/1) with Bet Victor to get the first goal of the game, though Luis Suarez, who got the first goal of the game in the corresponding fixture last season is favourite to open the scoring, with Paddy Power offering a the best price of 7.5 (13/2). Steven Gerrard, who netted a hat-trick when the two sides met at Anfield back in March, is a 10.0 (9/1) shot with Bet 365.

The visitors will assess the fitness of goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defender Glen Johnson ahead of the game, though Fabio Borini, Martin Kelly and Lucas remain side-lined.

With the score-line so difficult to predict in a game of this manner, you might be tempted to take advantage of the various markets available that concentrate on the players discipline.

No fixture in Premier League history has seen more dismissals; Jack Rodwell becoming the 20th in Everton’s 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park last season, though that particular red card was rescinded.

Paddy Power have a variety of offers including the rather generous 21.0 (20/1) available for both sides to have player sent off.

Alternatively, Everton and Liverpool are priced at 6.5 (11/2) and 5.0 (4/1) respectively to have a player dismissed while you can get odds of 3.0 (2/1) for there merely to be a red card shown in the game.
