Gareth Bale is reportedly edging close to a return to former club Tottenham Hotspur.

The Welsh winger, who departed North London for Real Madrid for a then world record fee in 2013, is apparently edging close to joining Spurs on-loan from the Spanish giants.

His agent, Jonathan Barnett has suggested whilst there is still work to do on a potential deal, he is confident that Bale could well be back in a Spurs shirt next season.

Talking to Sky Sports News, he said: “There’s a long way to go on some issues, but without doubt Gareth is closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years.

“The deal is complicated, but there’s reason to believe a deal is close and things could move very quickly if discussions continue to go well.”

Prior to joining Los Blancos, Bale made 203 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 55 goals. In that time, he was voted as the PFA Player of the Year on two occasions.

With Real, the now 31-year-old played a key role in four UEFA Champions League successes, as well as two La Liga triumphs and one Copa del Rey title.

Tottenham to be Bale’s employers after the closure of the summer transfer sits at a price of 1/9 with Betfair.
