Saturday’s evening kick-off in the Premier League sees Aston Villa take on Liverpool at Villa Park.

The hosts go in to the game on the back of their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday evening, where they were unlucky not to be rewarded for their efforts.

Defender Ciaran Clark is available for selection having overcome a head injury that forced his substitution during the midweek game at Stamford Bridge.

Chris Herd is also in contention after recovering from a calf problem, though Nathan Baker will miss out with a twisted ankle.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Christian Benteke is favourite to open the scoring having hit three goals in Villa’s two games so far this season, and the Belgian can be backed at 6.5 (11/2) with most bookmakers while Gabriel Agbonlahor is a 11.0 (10/1) shot with William Hill.

Paul Lambert’s men are generously priced with several firms at 4.0 (3/1) to win the game, with Liverpool 2.05 (21/20) with Paddy Power. The draw is a 3.75 (11/4) chance with Bet Victor.

The visitors 1-0 victory over Stoke City was their first opening day victory at Anfield for twelve years, and momentarily saw them top the Premier League table.

Defender Aly Cissokho could be handed his Reds debut after completing his loan move from Valencia though Sebastian Coates is set to miss the majority of the season with a knee injury.

With Luis Suarez continuing his ten-match ban, Daniel Sturridge is once again set to lead the line, and the England international is 7.0 (6/1) with William Hill to get the first goal of the game, just ahead of summer signing Iago Aspas , who is 8.5 (15/2) with the same firm.

Liverpool came from behind to win the corresponding fixture last season, with Steven Gerrard’s sixtieth minute penalty securing all three points for the Reds back in March.

The England captain has scored more Premier League goals against Aston Villa than any other side, so you may be tempted to back him to score at any time at a rather generous 4.5 (7/2) with William Hill.
