The rearranged game will serve as a good opportunity for Genoa to try and escape the danger zone, whereas Atalanta will try and close the gap behind European positions after a slow start.

The Rossoblu have had a pretty disappointing start to the season, slipping to the relegation zone early on, but they have been showing signs of improvement of late.

After taking mere 6 points from first 12 Serie A fixtures, Genoa embarked on an excellent run of results that eventually saw them leave the bottom three.

The Rossoblu defeated Crotone and Hellas Verona, while sharing spoils with AS Roma, and they also won the Coppa Italia clash against Crotone.

This means that Davide Ballardini’s men head into the Atalanta game high on confidence and they can be backed at 3.00 (2/1) to record yet another triumph.

The boss will be hoping to name an unchanged line-up to that which defeated Hellas Verona, but winger Diego Laxalt could miss out.

According to reports, the likes of Goran Pandev and Aleandro Rosi will again be preferred to Gianluca Lapadula and Darko Lazovic.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Perin – Izzo, Spolli, Zukanovic – Rosi, Bertolacci, Veloso, Rigoni, Laxalt – Taarabt, Pandev.

Last year’s fourth-place finish was always going to be hard to beat, especially with Atalanta now taking part in Europa League.

The European exploits have taken its toll on the team’s performances in Serie A, with Orobici slipping to 11th in the standings, but there is still time to turn things around.

Now that the Europa League group stage is finished, Atalanta will have a chance to improve their league position, starting from the Genoa clash.

Oribici have been in fine form of late, defeating Everton, Benevento and Lyon, while sharing spoils with Torino, and they are 2.40 (7/5) favourites to win at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Key midfielder Papu Gomez is struggling with an ankle problem, while Marten de Roon could be recalled to the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Berisha – Toloi, Caldara, Masiello – Hateboer, Cristante, Freuler, De Roon, Spinazolla – Gomez, Petagna.
