England drew 2-2 with Ecuador in Miami in their penultimate warm-up game prior to this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil yesterday evening, with both Wayne Rooney and Rickie Lambert getting on the score-sheet.

Rooney’s 29th minute equaliser was his thirty-ninth for his country taking him to with one of Michael Owen on the countries list of all time goal-scorers, and his first since last October.

The Manchester United man is favourite to finish as the Three Lions’ top scorer in Brazil at 3.75 (11/4) with a variety of firms, ahead of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, who is widely available at 4.0 (3/1).

Sturridge scored his fourth goal in eleven appearances with the opener in Friday evening’s 3-0 win over Peru at Wembley, and goes into the competition having scored more goals than any other Englishman in the Premier League last season.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City man’s captain for club and country, Steven Gerrard, is 12.0 (11/1) with Sporting Bet to outscore his teammates in South America though he has scored just twice since his strike against the USA in the World Cup in South Africa four years ago.

Manchester United’s Danny Wellbeck is 16.0 (15/1) with Bet Victor, while Rickie Lambert, who will be lining up alongside Sturridge and Gerrard at club level next season after completing his transfer from Southampton to Liverpool this week, took his international tally to three goals in five appearances in the Sun Life Stadium, and is 19.0 (18/1) with Coral to finish as the top scorer in Roy Hodgson’s side.

Fellow Red Raheem Sterling is a 21.0 (20/1) chance with most firms, while Frank Lampard is a 26.0 (25/1) shot with Bet 365 and Adam Lallana is available at the same price with Bet Victor.

England are 3.2 (11/5) with Coral to win their Group D opener against Italy in Manaus, while they can be backed at 1.62 (8/13) with Paddy Power to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Optimistic English fans may also want to take advantage of the widely available price of 29.0 (28/1) to go all the way, and lift the trophy in the Maranca on July 13th.
