Genoa vs Juventus preview

Genoa will be aiming to end their five-match winless run when they tackle Juventus, a team that managed just one victory in last five league games.

Despite showing a lot of potential over the last few years, the Rossoblu are still unable to leave mid table mediocrity and enter the race for European places.

Ambitious club owner Enrico Preziosi completely rebuilt the squad over the summer and added few more quality players in January, but so far, his transfer dealings are not showing results.

Genoa have shown some improvement of late as they ended the three-match losing run to record back to back draws against Parma and Lecce, but they will have to start winning soon or risk slipping into the dangerous zone.

With Alberto Gilardino back to the side to partner free-scoring Rodrigo Palacio, and Juventus arriving to Luigi Ferraris with patched up defence, odds of 1.50 (1/2) offered by Ladbrokes on Genoa to score look too good to pass.

The hosts have defensive problems of their own seeing that Cesare Bovo, Andreas Granqvist and Luca Antonelli are all sidelined trough injury, just like midfielder Valter Birsa.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Frey – Rossi, Carvalho, Kaladze, Moretti – Jankovic, Biondini, Kucka, Sculli – Gilardino, Palacio.

What looked like a very promising season for Juventus could yet turn into utter disappointment, unless the Bianconeri soon manage to arrest the poor run of results.

After winning just one of their last five league games, Antonio Conte’s side allowed Milan to climb to the top of the standings and they are now two points behind their title rivals.

That basically means that Juventus have got to try and win in Genoa, but considering the circumstances, odds of 1.95 (19/20) offered by William Hill on home win do not represent good value for money.

The Old Lady came from a goal behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Bologna and that was their third straight game that ended in the same result.

Juventus lost another central defender in the process as Leonardo Bonucci picked up a red card, meaning that Arturo Vidal will now have to act as a central defender.

Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini remain sidelined, while Borriello is again set to be preferred to Matri.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Buffon – Lichtsteiner, Caceres, Vidal, De Ceglie – Giaccherini, Pirlo, Marchisio – Pepe, Borriello, Vucinic.
