FA-cup

The FA Cup action continues this evening as Everton face West Ham United at Goodison Park, the final of four all Premier League third round ties.

The hosts, who have won this tournament on five occasions, are on a terrible run of form which has seen them win just one of their last nine games in all competitions, with Thursday’s defeat to Hull City their fourth in succession and they have not lost five in a row for over nine years.

Manager Roberto Martinez will be without midfielder James McCarthy and defender Alton Alcaraz through injury and suspension respectively, with John Stones expected to come in for the latter after recovering from an ankle problem.

Romelu Lukaku, who hasn’t scored in his last six games, is favourite to get the first goal here at 6.5 (11/2) with Ladbrokes, while Arouna Kone can be backed at the same price with a variety of firms.

The home win is widely available at 2.1 (11/10), with the visitors as highly priced as the 3.75 (11/4) on offer from Bet Victor. The draw is a 3.8 (14/5) chance with Betfair.

Sam Allardyce’s men have lost just three of their last fourteen matches – a run which has them sitting in seventh place, just four points of the top four though they are without a win in their last three outings.

Defender James Tomkins will be assessed ahead of the game, while midfielders Cheikhou Kouyate and Alex Song, who are away at the Africa Cup of Nations, are likely to be replaced by Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan.

Enner Valencia is 8.5 (15/2) to open the scoring with Sky Bet, with Andy Carroll available at the same price with Coral.

Everton beat the Hammers 2-1 on Merseyside just over six weeks ago to extend their unbeaten run in this fixture to fourteen games – the last five of which have ended in victory.

However, with the East London side having the edge in terms of current form, you would be a brave man to be against them here, and the 2-2 draw looks tempting at 15.0 (14/1) with Bet Victor.
