Tuesday evening’s match at the Emirates Stadium sees Arsenal host Southampton in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Arsene Wenger’s men, who were eliminated by Chelsea in the fourth round of last season’s competition, go in to the game on the back of Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 league win at Aston Villa which saw them rise to fourth place in the table.

Goalkeeper David Ospina, who starred at the World Cup for Columbia, could be handed his debut for the club, with Tomas Rosicky, Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski also pushing for starts though Mathieu Debuchy is out for three months after undergoing ankle surgery and Danny Welbeck, fresh from opening his account for the club at the weekend, is cup tied.

Alexis Sanchez is priced at 6.0 (5/1) with Bet 365 to get the first goal of the game, with Podolski widely available at 7.5 (13/2) with a variety of firms.

A home win inside ninety minutes is widely available at 1.95 (19/20), with the visitors as highly priced as the 4.5 (7/2) on offer from Betfred who, along with a host of other companies, have the draw at 3.75 (11/4).

Southampton also crashed out at the fourth round last year, losing to eventual finalists Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

They are unbeaten since the opening day of the season, and their third consecutive league win of the season, which came at Swansea City at the weekend, saw them rise to second place.

James Ward-Prowse and Maya Yoshida are hopeful of being fit enough to feature despite both picking up knocks last time out, though Toby Alderweireld may miss out again as he struggles with a thigh injury.

New signing Saido Mane is likely to be handed his debut after finally receiving his work permit and he is 12.0 (11/1) to open the scoring with Paddy Power, while Graziano Pelle is an 8.5 (17/2) chance with Ladbrokes.

Arsenal have won four of their last five meetings with Southampton in North London, drawing the other, while the Saints last away victory against the Gunners coming in 1987.

With this in mind, you may be tempted to back the home win to nil at 3.75 (11/4) with Bet Victor.
