Andy CarrollEngland international Andy Carroll has suggested that he is hoping a summer switch to West Ham will improve his chances of making the Three Lions squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The Towering striker has just completed a move to West Ham believed to be worth around £15 million after impressing while on loan at Boleyn Ground.

Carroll is looking forward to the new chapter in his career and believes he now has a very good chance of making England World Cup squad.

“My aim is keeping fit, scoring goals and performing every week,” Carroll said in the Daily Mail.

“If I do that I’ll hopefully get in the England team. It’s always important to play football for your country. If I play well and keep fit, I’m going to be playing every week. If it comes, England will come.

“Sam’s (Allardyce) a great manager. It’s always good when you’ve got somebody behind you. He gives me confidence to show what I am about.”

Having returned into the international reckoning, the 24-year-old looks a good bet to be on the plane to Brazil, with Skybet paying 2.62 (13/8) if that happens.

England currently occupy the second place in their qualifying group, sitting two points behind leaders Montenegro, albeit with a game in hand.
