Andy CarrollWest Ham striker Andy Carroll is making good progress as he continues his recovery from a heel injury, assistant manager Neil McDonald has revealed.

The towering forward joined the Hammers in a reported £15 million deal from Liverpool despite suffering a serious heel injury just few days earlier.

Carroll has since been undergoing rehabilitation for his injury and West Ham officials are hoping he will be ready for the start of the season.

“He is well under way in his rehab, he is working hard on the training ground and we just have to be a little bit patient,” assistant manager Neil McDonald was quoted as saying.

“The injury that he has is quite extensive and it takes time for the body to heal itself. He is doing everything he can to push on.

“He has been working really hard and there is still plenty of time for him to get himself fit for the start of the season.”

After scoring 7 goals in just 24 Premier League appearances while on loan at Boleyn Ground last term, Carroll is predicted another successful season.

With the player likely to recover for the start of the league campaign, there may be some value in backing Carroll to score over 12 league goals in the 2013/2014 campaign at odds of 2.00 (1/1) offered at William Hill.
