Andy CarrollWest Ham forward Andy Carroll has picked up a new injury in training that is likely to delay his return into action in the English Premier League.

The England international has been out of contention since the end of last season with a heel problem, and just as he was expected to resume training, he has picked up a fresh injury.

“Although it is in the same part of his foot as his previous injury, it is a new injury,” a statement released by West Ham read.

“West Ham United can confirm Andy Carroll suffered an injury to his right foot during his return to full training. There will be no prognosis until he has seen a specialist.”

Andy Carroll has failed to make a single appearances for the club since completing his £15 million move from Liverpool, but Sam Allardyce is, nonetheless, hoping the 24-year-old can still play a big part this season.

After scoring 7 goals in 24 league matches last term, the England international is no less than 5.00 (4/1) to be club’s top Premier League goalscorer this season, with Kevin Nolan 2.50 (3/2) favourite at the moment.
