Costa Rica squadCosta Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto has announced his provisional 30-man squad for the 2014 World Cup, opting to stick with tried and tested players.

Fulham forward Bryan Ruiz and Arsenal starlet Joel Campbell are the star names in the side, together with one of La Liga’s most sought-after goalkeepers Keylor Navas.

Everton full-back Bryan Oviedo misses out through injury, having failed to recover from a double leg break suffered in January.

The final 23-man squad will be named on 31 May, just before the national team jet off to a training camp in the United States, where they will face Japan and Ireland.

Costa Rica are making their fourth ever appearance at the tournament finals, with the team only progressing past the group stage on their maiden appearance in 1990.

Repeating such a success could prove to be a difficult task as los Ticos have been placed alongside England, Italy and Uruguay in Group D.

Costa Rica start their campaign on 14 June against Uruguay in Fortaleza, with Jorge Luis Pinto’s charges no less than 11.00 (10/1) to enjoy a winning start.
