NeymarBrazil spokesman has moved to reject speculations that star forward Neymar could miss the quarter-final clash against Colombia through injury.

The Barcelona superstar picked up thigh and knee injuries in the Last 16 phase victory over Chile, but the Seleccao staff are confident he will be on the pitch against Los Cafeteros.

“The worst is the knee – it’s what’s hurting the most,” said Brazil spokesman Rodrigo Paiva.

“He will be evaluated again, but team doctor Jose Luiz Runco said fans don’t have to worry because he’s not a concern for the match.”

Neymar played through the thigh injury to score the final penalty for Brazil in the shoot-out, but Luiz Felipe Scolari believes his star player should have been protected by the referee.

“Neymar needs to be valued for what he did because it was a big effort. He played 75 minutes of the match after a strong hit on the thigh and we couldn’t understand how somebody hits with that strength and gets no card.”

Neymar has been in scintillating form since the tournament started, bagging four goals in as many matches, and he is 2.23 (11/9) to score anytime against Colombia.
