Giuseppe Rossi’s return provides timely boost for Italy

The highly rated forward has missed a big chunk of the season due to a knee injury, and he has failed to make a single appearance since early January.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli, nonetheless, hinted he was ready to wait for his star striker and that proved to be a good decision as Rossi looks set to return into action in the Coppa Italia final clash.

Fiorentina medical team have moved to confirm that the player has fully recovered from a knee problem, with Viola coach Vincenzo Montella to decide on his involvement against Napoli.

“From a clinical and medical point of view, Giuseppe (Rossi) is fit for selection. In training he’s been put through his paces and has basically recovered,” club doctor Paolo Manetti stated.

Prior to picking up an injury in January, Rossi was leading the Serie A goalscoring charts having bagged 14 goals in 18 league appearances.

Cesare Prandelli sees the 27-year-old as an important member of his starting line-up, and you should know Rossi is 20.00 (19/1) to be Italy’s top scorer at the tournament finals.
