Germany vs CameroonAfter the second-string side played out a goalless draw with Poland, Joachim Low will be fielding quite a few star players in the high-profile friendly against Cameroon.

The Indomitable Lions were beaten by Paraguay on Thursday and they will want to show some improvement at Borussia Park in Monchengladbach.

Germany national team are slowly returning to old glory days and they have now managed to reach the semi-finals at last four major competitions, albeit failing to win a single trophy in the process.

As a result, die Mannschaft will be eager to make things right in Brazil and I definitely see them as one of the main candidates for the coveted title.

Joachim Low was unfortunate to have several important players pick up injuries in the final stage of the season, but as thing stand now, all of them should be ready for the opening clash against Portugal.

And with the boss set to field a very strong side against Cameroon, it is hardly surprising die Mannschaft have been made 1.25 (1/4) favourites to emerge victorious.

Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm have been ruled out, but Bastian Schweinsteiger and Marcel Schmelzer will be available.

Sami Khedira is in contention despite suffering a knock in training, while Miroslav Klose is expected to lead the line.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller – Howedes, Mertesacker, Boateng, Durm – Khedira, Kroos – Muller, Ozil, Reus – Klose.

Cameroon have experienced all sorts of problems in the build up to the 2014 World Cup, with the 5-1 defeat to Portugal in March the least of their worries.

After naming his provisional squad for the tournament finals, coach Volker Finke was forced to prepare for first warm-up matches with a number of star players missing, with most of them yet to resume full training.

Cameroon overcame all problems to record a 2-0 triumph over FYR Macedonia in Austria, but they then succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Paraguay at the training campaign in South Tyrol.

The Indomitable Lions will be eager to show some improvement against Germany, but I cannot really see them getting anything from this match.

The good news is Vincent Aboubakar and Charles Itandje are back in contention, but the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Pierre Webo, Stephane M’Bia, Aurelien Chedjou, Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik and Jean II Makoun remain injury doubts.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Itandje – Nounkeu, N’Koulou, Chedjou, Bedimo – Song, Makoun, Enoh – Moukandjo, Aboubakar, Choupo-Moting.
