Costa Rica vs GreeceHaving come out on top of the group of death, Costa Rica aim to continue the successful campaign by qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Last-gasp goal against Ivory Coast proved sufficient for Greece to reach their first ever World Cup knockout stage, but they will fancy their chances against Los Ticos.

Costa Rica quickly proved they will not be the whipping boys of Group D, with their 3-1 triumph over Uruguay the first real surprise at the 2014 World Cup.

But, while many believed it was a mere one-off result, Los Ticos continued with impressive performances to defeat Euro 2012 finalists Italy and secure their place in the knockout stages.

And despite the first place in the group all but secured, boss Jorge Luis Pinto opted to field a very strong line-up in the final group fixture against England, with a goalless draw proving enough to avoid red-hot Colombia in the Last 16 stage.

Given their stunning performances in the group stage, Los Ticos are now considered 2.50 (3/2) favourites to defeat Greece, and coach Pinto clearly believes his side will have the best chance of progressing with yet another defence-minded approach.

And with their opponents never taking too many risks, half-time draw needs to be considered at 1.93 (13/14) offered at Unibet.

There are absolutely no selection worries for the nominal hosts, but Michael Umana and Cristian Bolanos will be recalled having been rested against England.

Probable starting line-up (5-4-1): Navas – Gamboa, Duarte, Gonzalez, Umana, Diaz – Ruiz, Borges, Tejeda, Bolanos – Campbell.

While enjoying plenty of success at the European Championships of late, Greece arrived at the 2014 World Cup hoping to reach the knockout stages for the first time in history.

Things did not start well for Ethinki as they suffered a 3-0 loss to Colombia, before having captain Kostas Katsouranis sent off before the half-time break in the second match against Japan.

It was from that moment that Fernando Santos’ charges showed a great deal of character as they outplayed the Blue Samurai even with ten men on the pitch and eventually held on to a goalless draw that kept their qualifying hopes alive.

Greece then had keeper Karnezis and key midfielder Kone pick up injuries in the opening exchanges of the Ivory Coast match, but they somehow managed to win the game and achieve a historic success.

And having now been placed against Costa Rica, there may be some value in backing Ethniki to go through at odds of 2.10 (11/10).

First-choice keeper Orestis Karnezis remains injury doubt, while Panagiotis Kone has been ruled out through a thigh problem. Kostas Katsouranis returns from suspension.

Probable starting line-up (4-5-1): Karnezis – Torosidis, Manolas, Papastathopoulos, Holebas – Salpingidis, Maniatis, Katsouranis, Samaris, Samaras – Mitroglou.
