Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi has been cleared to resume full training, the player has revealed on the club’s official website.

Calf and Achilles injury prevented the player from training with his teammates in pre-season, but he is now ready to return to full training.

“I had some problems with my Achilles tendon last year and I’ve had a few problems with my calf this year, so I have started the pre-season quite gently,” Xavi said on the club’s official website.

“The work I’ve been doing so far this pre-season is to help prevent any injuries.”

Barcelona are set to face Manchester United in a friendly on 30th July and the Spain international is hoping to play some part.

Xavi went on to say that Barca had deservedly won the Champions League title.

“We were by far the better team at Wembley against Manchester. We held onto the ball for all the game apart from the first 10 minutes.

“Even Ferguson has admitted it – something which does him a great honour.”

Barcelona are 2.20 (6/5) with William Hill to beat United for the second time this year, whereas the Red Devils are 3.25 (9/4) with Paddy Power to beat the Catalans.
