Villarreal need a victory in order to return to contention for the second place in the group, whereas Manchester City aim to overturn Napoli from the second place with three points from El Madrigal.

Villarreal have established themselves as genuine top 4 side in La Liga over the years, but the Yellow Submarine is finding it increasingly hard to live up to the billing this term.

After scraping into the Champions League group stages, Juan Carlos Garrido’s side lost all three group games, so it will take a miracle for them to make it to the knockouts stages.

Their La Liga campaign has been pretty poor as well, with Villarreal recording just second victory in ten games as they beat Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.

To make matters worse, boss Garrido has seen his squad plagued by numerous injuries, meaning that the Spaniards will be severely weakened against Manchester City.

Giuseppe Rossi, Nilmar, Marcos Senna, Cani, Marcos Ruben and Cristian Zapata are all sidelined, whereas Javier Camunas is a major doubt.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Lopez – Mario, Musacchio, Gonzalo, Catala – Borja Valero, Bruno, Marchena, Camunas, De Guzman – Perez.

Manchester City continue to impress in English Premier League, where they are five-point clear of their nearest rivals, but their Champions League showings leave a lot to be desired.

The Citizens could take just one point from their opening games against Napoli and Bayern Munich, but they managed to return to the right track by coming from behind to beat Villarreal at home.

The team have since shown a massive improvement, winning their next three games in style and seeing that their opponents enter this clash without several important players, you should know that City are 1.62 (8/13) with Paddy Power to win this game.

Roberto Mancini’s side have been scoring goals for fun of late, bagging at least two in nine of last ten games, so they are now 1.70 (7/10) with Stan James to continue the amazing run.

The visitors have no fresh injury worries, but Adam Johnson, Mario Balotelli and Nigel De Jong are pushing for starting places.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Hart – Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov – Toure, De Jong – Aguero, Silva, Johnson – Balotelli.
