Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick has revealed that the team that lost to Kaiserslautern at the weekend will undergo major changes for Champions League semi-final clash with Manchester United.

Jose Jurado, Benedikt Howedes, Atsuto Uchida, Hans Sarpei, Kiriakos Papadopoulos and Alexander Baumjohan will return to the starting line-up after they were rested in the Kaiserslautern game.

“I selected the team in such a way, because I wanted to win both of our games,” Rangnick was quoted as saying.

“In the Champions League, we will select a different starting eleven again.”

“If you look at the entire 90 minutes, we had the better chances. But unlike Kaiserslautern, we did not use our possibilities.

“I am not dissatisfied with the defeat. The team put in a decent performance, this was the first time this particular team has played together, which has to be taken into consideration.”

Schalke are set to host Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday and Rangnick’s decision to rest his key players at the weekend could give his side the upper hand in the tie. The Germans are 3.75 (11/4) with Victor Chandler to produce an upset and qualify for the final.
