Barcelona forward David Villa is set to miss next six months of action after fracturing his tibia at the Cup World Cup in Japan.

The Spain international was stretchered off just before half time during the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Al Sadd.

The Catalans soon confirmed via their official website that the player has indeed suffered a fracture to the tibia in his left leg.

The 30-year-old is likely to spend at least six months on the sidelines and everything suggests that he will miss the Euro 2012.

Just few days ago, Villa was linked with a January exit from Camp Nou, but the speculations were later denied by Josep Guardiola.

Barcelona are set to meet Brazilian side Santos in the Club World Cup final on Sunday morning, and that Catalans are 1.44 (4/9) with Paddy Power to win the game in regular time.
