French giants Paris Saint-Germain are coming off from a frustrating season which saw them lose Ligue 1 title to AS Monaco and suffer another disappointing Champions League exit.

Qatari owners of the Paris-based club now appear to be willing to dig deep in their pockets and boost their ranks ahead of the new season in order to forge a competitive team which will be able to compete for major honours at all fronts.

Having faced great pressure from Barcelona in the summer transfer window with the Catalans pushing hard for a Marco Verratti deal, PSG are also ready to unleash a counterattack with reports from Esporte Interativo exclusively claiming that the French giants have decided to activate Neymar’s £195 million release clause.

Qatari owners have thus decided to once again send a clear message to the football world that they are no pushovers and that there will always be repercussions for clubs that attempt to steal any of their first-team stars.

Brazil international Neymar signed a new five-year deal with the Catalans until 2021 in October and the big story behind PSG’s interest in Barcelona first-team stars relies on a presumption that Neymar could be persuaded to leave his club and step out of Leo Messi’s shadow.

Neymar’s biggest wish reportedly is to win the FIFA World Player of the Year but the question still remains if he could achieve it playing elwehere as long as Leo Messi is on the stage as well.

Responding to the latest rumours linking Neymar with a move away from Barcelona, the club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told BBC Sport that Neymar will not be leaving Barcelona despite growing reports that PSG have triggered the release clause.

Neymar scored 13 goals at Barcelona last season, helping his club to the second-place finish in La Liga and a Copa del Rey trophy.

Barcelona can be found at 1.91 (10/11) price to win La Liga in 2017/18 season.
