Bordeaux keeper Cedric Carrasso says les Girondins must quickly forget the poor first half of the season and show immediate improvement if they are to clinch the Champions League berth.

The experienced keeper believes the numerous changes to the playing squad had a negative effect on the results.

“I think we could allow ourselves a fairly slow start to the season after all the changes that were made last summer. The new coach and signings needed time to adapt, but now we have to start picking up results.”

“It is up to us to have six good months, which we need to do if we are to achieve our objective of qualifying for European competition next season. Soon we will have a fully-fit squad, and, while we know that we face some tough games, I hope that we can properly kick-start our season.”

Bordeaux remain just four points adrift of the third-placed Rennes in the Ligue 1 standings and given the quality the side possess, this could be the right time to back les Girondins to finish in top 3 at odds of 5.50 (9/2) offered by Paddy Power as these are bound to decrease as soon as Bordeaux start winning again.
