Bayern Munich vs Manchester City preview

Packed Alianz Arena is set to host the clash of titans as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich welcome high-flying Manchester City.

The German giants have been in scintillating form this season, and they simply look unstoppable at the moment.

The 3:0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend was Bayern’s ninth successive victory in all competitions, which goes to show how Jupp Heynckess’s side have been playing of late.

If you had backed Bayern to win to nil during this period you would have made a small fortune as the Bavarians haven’t conceded a single goal after the 1:0 defeat to Borussia M’gladbach in their opening game of the season.

Therefore, I am really surprised to see that Paddy Power is paying 3.60 (13/5) on Bayern to win this game and keep a clean sheet at the same time.

Mario Gomez, Luis Gustavo and Arjen Robben all returned into action in the 3:0 win over Bayer Leverkusen and the trio is in contention for the starting places.

Having beaten Villarreal at El Madrigal in their first group game, Bayern look like favourites for the first place in Group A, with Bodog paying 1.80 (4/5) on the Bavarians.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Rafinha, Van Buyten, Badstuber, Lahm – Schweinsteiger, Gustavo – Muller, Kroos, Ribery – Gomez.

Manchester City have started the season in impressive fashion, winning four straight games after the defeat in the Community Shield, but the team have suffered a small dip in form of late.

The Citizens did return to winning ways following back to back draws against Napoli and Fulham, but their performances are no longer as impressive as they were during August.

Roberto Mancini’s players seem to be in confident mood before the trip to Munchen and they are calling for City to attack Bayern at Alianz Arena, and with that in mind City are 4.00 (3/1) with Unibet to triumph in Germany.

James Milner is hoping to start after helping the side beat Everton by coming off the bench to score, but Mario Balotelli will have to sit out this match trough suspension despite scoring the opener against Everton.

Nigel De Jong could make the bench after recovering from a foot injury, where he is likely to be accompanied by Carlos Tevez.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Hart – Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov – Y. Toure, Barry – Silva, Aguero, Nasri – Dzeko.
