Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to miss next several weeks of action after breaking his collarbone in the Champions League clash with Napoli.

The Germany international had to leave the pitch just before the hour mark in Bayern’s 3:2 victory over Napoli, which saw the Bavarians virtually book their place in the knockout stages.

The player is expected to undergo an operation on his broken collarbone on Thursday, and is expected to miss three to four weeks of action.

That means that he is likely to miss Bayern’s final two Champions League group games, as well as the Bundesliga derby against Borussia Dortmund.

“Of course, he will be missed as he is an important part of our midfield and was in great shape,” Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes told reporters after the win over Napoli.

Bayern have been in impressive form this season and they are tipped to reach the final stages of Europe’s top competition.

Seeing that the highly rated midfielder will be ready for the decisive European battles, maybe this is the right time to back Bayern to reach Champions League semis at odds of 1.90 (9/10) offered by Unibet.
