Barcelona vs Real Madrid preview

The first match between the two teams caused a lot of controversy with Barca scoring two goals only after Pepe was harshly sent off for a foul on Dani Alves and there are no doubts the tempers will flare at Camp Nou as well.

The Catalans made a giant step towards the Champions League final at Wembley, having won the first leg 2:0 and such a good side is highly unlikely to squander the two-goal advantage, even if Real Madrid will be on the other side.

Barcelona lost to Real Sociedad at the weekend as Pep Guardiola had fielded what resembled a second string side, but nobody would be worried about the setback, especially as the Catalans kept the eight-point advantage over Real in La Liga.

Pep Guardiola will have Andres Iniesta back to the side after the midfielder missed the first leg through injury, but Gabriel Milito and Martin Montoya have picked up injuries at the weekend and the season is over for them.

Carles Puyol will be fit to play, whereas Maxwell, Adriano and Abidal are not yet ready to feature. Back-up keeper Pinto is suspended.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Valdez – Dani Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Puyol – Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi – Pedro, Messi, Villa.

Jose Mourinho’s cowardly approach has cost his team a good result in the first leg, since the Portuguese opted for cautious tactics even though Javier Mascherano played in defence for Barca.

After losing the first leg 2:0, Real Madrid clearly face a mountain to climb, and it is very likely that not even the players believe they can overturn the two-goal deficit at Camp Nou. If you beg to differ, Real Madrid are 21.00 (20/1) with Bet365 to make it to the final.

Just like Barca, Real Madrid also lost their weekend’s game in La Liga, as los Blanos succumbed to 3:2 defeat to Zaragoza, but at least Mourinho managed to rest most of his first team regulars for the game at Camp Nou.

The Portuguese manager is expected to adopt a more attacking approach at Camp Nou, but his back line will be severely weakened with Pepe and Sergio Ramos suspended for the Barca clash.

Sami Khedira remains sidelined, while Karim Benzema and Emmanuel Adebayor are vying for the one place in attack.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Arbeloa, Albiol, Carvalho, Marcelo – Lass, Xabi Alonso – Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo – Adebayor.

Barcelona are 1.67 (2/3) with Paddy Power to win the return leg as well, while away win pays 5.00 (4/1).
