Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has said that Saul Niguez could start against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.
Defending European champions Chelsea will take on Premier League rivals Villa at Stamford Bridge in London in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Saul, who joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid on loan on summer transfer deadline day, made his debut for the Blues against Villa in the Premier League earlier this month.
The 26-year-old Spain international started the match and was taken off at half time after severely struggling to cope with the intensity.
Chelsea went on to win the match 3-0.
Tuchel told Football.London: “Of course, we want to give Saul some minutes. First of all, the guys want to show and impress and keep on pushing.
“We need some players to have more competitive minutes and be a competitive team.
“We need them to have the opportunity to push some guys and to trust them also in a competitive cup match like tomorrow. Saul is one of them.”
Chelsea can be backed at 6/1 on Betfair to win the tie 2-1 against Villa.
