Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has labelled the prospect of his team receiving a ban from the UEFA Champions League as absurd.

As punishment for their involvement in the now failed European Super League, a project they are yet to formally withdraw from, Los Blancos could be suspended from European competition according to UEFA.

Whilst a potential sanction has not yet been decided on by any of the governing bodies, the Frenchman, who has won three European crowns as Real Madrid boss in his career thus far, has already hit back.

Giving his thoughts, he said: “We have the right to play the Champions League, it is absurd, and we are going to prepare for it.

“Everyone is free to say what they want.”

Whilst possible punishments continue to be debated, Real will continue their fight to lift a 14th European Cup title as they go up against Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition after managing to progress past another Premier League side in the form of Liverpool.

As it stands, it is Zidane’s men who are the more fancied to progress to the final and they can be backed at a price of 4/5 with Betfair in which to do that.
