Celta Vigo vs Barcelona preview

Barcelona vs CeltaRelegation-threatened Celta are in such a difficult position that they have got to try and get something from the match against the La Liga leaders, who arrive in Galicia without several first team regulars, but with enough motives to extend their winning run.

Many neutral fans are sorry to see the Sky Blues fighting for their lives when they have played so well throughout the season, but the reality is the team are now three points adrift of safety.

Abel Resino’s side have been creating chances for fun this term, but their profligacy in front of goal could end up costing them La Liga survival.

The Sky Blues had a great chance to revive their survival hopes as they faced bottom-placed Deportivo La Coruna, but everything was over when key player Iago Aspas was sent off just before the half-hour mark.

Celta ended up losing the game 3-1, but more importantly their top scorer will be unable to help the team in next four league matches.

With few other regular starters unavailable for the Barca clash, there is a very good reason why home win pays 8.00 (7/1) at William Hill.

Iago Aspas and Andres Tunez miss out through suspension, while Michael Krohn-Dehli, Hugo Mallo, Alex Lopez and Sergio Alvarez are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Varas – Jonny, Cabral, Demidov, Lago – Borja, Pranjic – Fernandez, Bermejo, De Lucas – Park.

Barcelona would be forgiven for an under-par showing at Balaidos given that they face PSG in the Champions League just three days later, but the Catalans will, nonetheless, give their best to continue their winning run.

The Camp Nou outfit were going through a very rough patch some month ago, and there was a lot riding on the Champions League match against Milan.

Barcelona proved their worth by overturning a two-goal deficit with ease and that victory has helped kick-start their season.

The Catalans have since eased off to a home win against Rayo Vallecano and they are now 1.44 (4/9) at BetVictor to make it four in a row.

After scoring in 18 consecutive league games, Leo Messi is 1.40 (2/5) at bet365 to continue the magnificent run against Celta, the only team in the league against which the Argentine did not score this season.

Xavi Hernandez is unlikely to be risked as he battles a hamstring injury, while Carles Puyol, Adriano Correia, Pedro and Jordi Alba also miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Valdes – Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Montoya – Thiago, Busquets, Fabregas – Sanchez, Messi, Villa.
