Atletico vs SociedadBuoyed by the impressive victory over bitter rivals Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid host in-form Real Sociedad in what should be a great game of football at Vicente Calderon.

Even if their four-match winning streak ended at the weekend, La Real arrive to the capital brimming with confidence after turning their season around.

Even though the 1-0 victory at Santiago Bernabeu will prove insufficient to improve their title hopes, it will definitely serve as a major boost ahead of the season finale.

Diego Simeone and his charges have yet again outclassed the expensively assembled Real Madrid squad at the Bernabeu, leaving them four points behind in the La Liga standings.

Even if leaders Barcelona hold an eight-point lead at the league summit, it is not as if los Colchoneros have nothing to play for, given that they will want to finish above their local rivals.

And having now kept four clean sheets on the trot, Atletico Madrid can be backed at 2.05 (21/20) to defeat Real Sociedad without conceding.

Diego Simeone may decide to introduce some new players to the side, with Mattias Kranevitter, Oliver Torres and Luciano Vietto hoping for starts.

Meanwhile, Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco is a major doubt and he is unlikely to be risked, whereas Tiago Mendes and Stefan Savic are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Oblak – Gamez, Gimenez, Godin, Filipe Luis – O. Torres, Gabi, Kranevitter, Koke – Vietto, Griezmann.

Just a month ago, Real Sociedad were sitting in danger zone, fighting for their lives, but they have since shown incredible improvement.

Eusebio Sacristan’s charges then embarked on an amazing run that saw them win four straight La Liga games, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one in the process.

This basically means they are now outside of the relegation struggle and can play without too much pressure, which should ensure the good run continues.

La Real did fail to make it five victories on the bounce as they could only share spoils with Malaga at the weekend, and they probably wouldn’t mind another share of spoils when facing Atletico Madrid.

The visitors will have to make do without key defender Inigo Martinez, who is suspended after picking up the fifth yellow card of the season, but there have been some good news as well.

Asier Illarramendi, Aritz Elustondo and Jonathan de Jesus are all back after serving bans, whereas Markel Bergara, Oier Olazabal and David Zurutuza all face fitness tests.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Rulli – Zaldua, M. Gonzalez, Elustondo, Yuri – Reyes, Illarramendi – Vela, Prieto, Bruma – Agirretxe.
