Udinese vs Genoa preview

With Udinese looking to put extra pressure on top 3 rivals Napoli and Genoa desperate to avoid slipping into the bottom three, there is every chance we will see a nervy affair at Friuli.

Just few weeks ago it looked as tough all of Udinese’s hard work would be in waste as the dismal run of results threatened to hurt their Champions League bid, but the Zebrette somehow managed to return to the right track.

The 2-0 victory over top 3 rivals Lazio acted as a major boost to the players’ confidence, while the narrow win over bottom-placed Cesena helped the team stay tied on points with third-placed Napoli.

With a trip to Catania scheduled for the last day of the season, the Friulani are aware they need to beat Genoa in order to remain in contention for the final Champions League berth, and you should know William Hill pays 1.67 (2/3) on home win.

Mehdi Benatia returns to the side after recovering from injury, but Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Maurizio Isla remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Handanovic – Benatia, Danilo, Domizzi – Basta, Pinzi, Fernandes, Asamoah, Armero – Fabbrini – Di Natale.

While Genoa started the new season hoping to enter the race for European places, the team have utterly failed to realize their potential and they now find themselves at the wrong end of the table.

Grifone now sit just three points above the relegation zone, but the situation could have been even worse if Bosko Jankovic hadn’t scored a brilliant goal to help his side record a 2-1 win over Cagliari in midweek.

The valuable victory ended team’s 14-match winless run (six draws and eight defeats) and it served as a major boost to their survival hopes.

Genoa cannot afford to relax just yet given that Lecce are breathing down their necks and Grifone are 2.30 (13/10) with Sportingbet not to lose at Friuli.

Young Masahudu Alhassan will continue to deputize for injured Kakha Kaladze in defence, whereas Bosko Jankovic is expected to start.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Frey – Mesto, Granqvist, Alhassan, Moretti – Rossi, Kucka, Biondini, Sculli – Palacio, Jankovic.
