Sampdoria vs Roma preview

Sampdoria vs RomaIt will be up to struggling Sampdoria to try and end Roma’s amazing winning run, but that looks a mission impossible at the moment given that the hosts have yet to record their first triumph of the season.

A dismal finish to the previous Serie A campaign hinted that Doriani could encounter even bigger problems this term, with star players Andrea Poli and Mauro Icardi proving to be sorely missed.

The club have added some decent players to their ranks, with Manolo Gabbiadini the best summer signing, but not everything has gone according to plan.

Oddly enough, Sampdoria have done fairly well on the travels, holding Bologna and Cagliari to 2-2 draws, but it was their home form that let them down.

And while the opening 1-0 defeat to reigning champions Juventus was by no means a surprise, Delio Rossi’s men then recorded a 3-0 defeat to arch rivals Genoa in Derby della Lanterna, and they will certainly need some time to recover.

The aforementioned draw with Cagliari was certainly a step in the right direction, especially with Doriani scoring two very late goals, and they are now 3.90 (29/10) with BetVictor to end their winless run against Roma.

While striker Eder remains sidelined through a knee injury, Delio Rossi has no other selection worries at the moment.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Da Costa – Gastaldello, Palombo, Costa – De Silvestri, Bjarnason, Krsticic, Obiang, Regini – Sansone, Gabbiadini.

Many people doubted Rudi Garcia would be able to enjoy a bright start to his career at Stadio Olimpico having taken over a team that were completely out of confidence following yet another disappointing season.

His job was made harder by numerous changes to the playing squad, but the French coach proved his credentials by helping the Giallorossi enjoy one of their best starts to a Serie A campaign.

And while some were reluctant to put too much emphasis on victories over bottom-table sides Livorno, Verona and Parma, the 2-0 derby win over Lazio hinted this could be a real breakthrough season for Roma.

The Giallorossi have a great chance to keep their 100% record intact against out-of-sorts Sampdoria, with Coral paying 2.10 (11/10) on away win.

Having scored in two of three matches since arriving from Fiorentina, scoring from the spot against Lazio in the process, Adem Ljajic is 3.00 (2/1) with 888sport to continue his scoring run at Marassi.

Rudi Garcia has no new injuries to report, but Mattia Destro, Michael Bradley, Vasilis Torosidis and Bogdan Lobont are not yet ready to return.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): De Sanctis – Maicon, Benatia, Castan, Balzaretti – De Rossi, Strootman, Pjanic – Gervinho, Totti, Ljajic.
