Parma vs Roma preview

Parma vs RomaHaving picked up just one point from their first two league fixtures, Parma have no choice but to go for a win against Roma, a team that have yet to drop points this season.

In an attempt to maintain the uptrend in fortunes that saw them finish last few campaigns in top half of the standings, il Ducali have been very active in the summer transfer window.

And while Ishak Belfodil was the only notable departure, the club managed to sign Antonio Cassano, Gianni Munari, Felipe, Walter Gargano and Joel Obi.

In spite of reinforcing the squad over the summer, Parma had a pretty disappointing start to the season, playing out a goalless draw with Chievo at home before losing to Udinese at Friuli.

The 4-0 Coppa Italia triumph over Lecce remains their only win of the season, but il Ducali will try to finally return to the right track when they host Roma.

However, with their opponents hitting the ground running early on, there is no value in odds of 3.10 (21/10) offered at Sportingbet on home win.

Joel Obi faces a fitness test, while Daniele Galloppa and Gabriel Paletta are out injured. Walter Gargano is unlikely to start having returned late from international duty.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Mirante – Cassani, Lucarelli, Felipe – Biabiany, Marchionni, Valdes, Parolo, Gobbi – Cassano, Amauri.

Roma chiefs had no choice but to change their coach following yet another under-par campaign, but they seem to have made a good decision in appointing Rudi Garcia.

The squad have undergone some changes, with Stekelenburg, Lamela, Osvaldo and Marquinhos leaving, but the arrival of Ljajic, Strootman, Gervinho, De Sanctis, Maicon and Benatia seems to have made the squad even stronger than last term.

And in spite of some indifferent displays in pre-season, the Giallorossi enjoyed one of their best starts to a league campaign in recent years, defeating Livorno away and Verona at home, scoring give goals and keeping two clean sheets in the process.

With derby game against Lazio scheduled for next weekend, Roma will want to continue their winning run at Ennio Tardini, and they are 2.50 (3/2) with William Hill to do so.

Captain Francesco Totti will be buoyed by the fact he has all but agreed a new three-year deal with the club, and the 36-year-old is 2.75 (7/4) at Betfred to celebrate the occasion with a goal.

Michael Bradley is out after picking up an ankle injury on international duty, while Mattia Destro remains sidelined through a knee problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): De Sanctis – Maicon, Benatia, Castan, Balzaretti – De Rossi, Strootman, Pjanic – Florenzi, Totti, Gervinho.
