Napoli vs RomaHaving ended a four-match losing streak just before the turn of the year, Napoli will be hoping to start a new winning run and revive their title ambitions.

Roma remained in contention for a top 3 finish as they hammered Milan at Olimpico, but they now face a stern test at Stadio San Paolo.

While the other title contenders were getting weaker during the summer, Napoli made sure to keep hold of their star players, while also adding several experienced players to the side.

That allowed the Azzurri to start the season brightly and for a long time they were considered the only serious title rivals to impressive Juventus.

However, the four-match losing run in December not only saw them drop out from Coppa Italia, but also seriously damaged their Serie A title ambitions.

Azzurri then managed to return to the right track with an away win over Siena, but they now need to beat Roma if they are to close the gap behind their top 3 rivals.

Betfred has them at 2.10 (11/10) to see off Roma, with team’s top scorer Edinson Cavani 1.91 (10/11) at William Hill to add at least another goal to his tally.

Apart from banned Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava, boss Walter Mazzarri has no selection problems.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): De Sanctis – Campagnaro, Gamberini, Britos – Maggio, Behrami, Inler, Zuniga – Hamsik, Pandev – Cavani.

Unlike Napoli, Roma had a really difficult start to the season despite seriously reinforcing the squad over the summer.

The Giallorossi were showing a lot of potential even then, but Zdenek Zeman needed some time to find the right balance in the side.

Once things fell into place, Roma started playing beautiful football and quickly returned into contention for Champions League places.

Narrow defeat to Chievo may have ended their five-match winning streak, but the Giallorossi recorded a 4-2 win over Milan to make sure they ended 2012 on a high.

Beating Napoli at San Paolo could prove to be a very difficult task, but with team’s 5-0-4 away record in mind, Roma look a good bet at 3.40 (12/5).

Centre-back Marquinhos misses out through suspension, while Taddei and Nico Lopez are also unavailable. Francesco Totti and Alessandro Florenzi are doubtful through flu and muscle injury respectively.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Goicoechea – Piris, Burdisso, Castan, Balzaretti – Pjanic, De Rossi, Bradley – Lamela, Osvaldo, Totti.
