Lazio vs Udinese preview

It may come as a surprise to you to see Lazio take on Udinese on a Tuesday, but reality is the two teams have been granted some extra rest following their Europa League exploits in midweek.

With neither side playing to their potential at the moment, this match could give them a perfect opportunity to kick-start the season.

Lazio go into this game on the back of a goalless draw against Tottenham that saw them ensure their place in the Europa League knockout stages, meaning the Biancocelesti can now fully focus on their Serie A campaign.

Vladimir Petkovic’s side recovered well from the three-match winless run in the league as they went on to beat arch rivals Roma before holding leaders Juventus to a goalless draw.

They now have a chance to close the gap behind their top 3 rivals to just two points, and considering their opponents are missing quite a few first team regulars, Lazio look a good bet at odds of 1.85 (17/20) offered at Ladbrokes.

Having kept three clean sheets in last four games in all competitions, the Biancocelesti are 2.50 (3/2) with Paddy Power not to concede.

Senad Lulic and Stefano Mauri both return from suspension, but Christian Brocchi, Andrea Dias and Mauro Zarate are out injured.

Playmaker Hernanes is doubtful with a muscle strain, but Miroslav Klose and Abdoulay Konko are back after missing the Tottenham clash.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Marchetti – Konko, Biava, Ciani, Lulic – Ledesma – Candreva, Gonzalez, Hernanes, Mauri – Klose.

Udinese are going through a very rough patch at the moment, so this match clearly comes at a bad time for them.

Francesco Guidolin is still trying to rebuild his squad following some important departures, while numerous selection worries are only making his life more difficult.

As a result, the Zebrette are unable to escape the bottom half of the standings in Serie A, while their European campaign is already over.

Having failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions, Udinese should be in for a very difficult task at Olimpico.

Considering the circumstances, there are no doubts the visitors would be delighted with one point from this match, but we do not recommend betting on draw, even if the odds are as high as 3.50 (5/2) at BetVictor.

Dusan Basta is out after breaking his cheek bone against Anzhi, while Mehdi Benatia, Giampiero Pinzi, Luis Muriel and Andrea Lazzari also miss out.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Brkic – Coda, Danilo, Domizzi – Faraoni, Badu, Allan, Pereyra, Pasquale – Maicosuel – Di Natale.
