Juventus vs Inter preview

Juventus vs InterSerie A leaders Juventus will be looking to avoid third successive setback when they host Inter Milan, a team that have failed to win any of their last five fixtures.

While the Bianconeri remain on course to their third consecutive league title, they have utterly failed to prove their worth in other competitions despite possessing big strength in depth.

In all fairness, Juventus were pretty unfortunate to be eliminated from the Champions League, with a place in Europa League knockout stages hardly a perfect consolation prize.

On top of that, the Bianconeri crashed out of Coppa Italia at the hands of Roma, so this clearly cannot be regarded as a successful season.

Nevertheless, Antonio Conte and his men can fully focus on their league campaign, where they are still six points clear at the top, in spite of the 1-1 draw with Lazio.

And with Juventus winning all ten home matches in the league this season, it is hardly surprising they are 1.45 (9/20) favourites to defeat Inter as well.

New signing Pablo Osvaldo could be in contention, but Gianluigi Buffon is banned and Fabio Quagliarella is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Storari – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah – Llorente, Tevez.

Despite impressing in the opening exchanges, Inter’s good run of results proved short-lived and the Nerazzurri have been struggling for form for a couple of months now.

With a five-match winning run seriously threatening to ruin their season, the Giuseppe Meazza outfit desperately needed a morale boost and the club chiefs duly delivered.

Inter produced quite a coup by signing two of league’s in-form players in Hernanes and D’Ambrosio, who are expected to play a major role in the immediate future.

Having only joined the club on transfer deadline day, the footballers are unlikely to start against Juventus, but there mere presence should improve the atmosphere in the squad.

Given that Inter managed to win three of their last five matches against the Bianconeri, there may be some value in odds of 8.25 (29/4) offered on away win.

Esteban Cambiasso is set to miss up to four weeks of action after picking up a hamstring injury against Catania, with McDonald Mariga the only other player on the sidelines at the moment.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Handanovic – Campagnaro, Rolando, Jesus – Jonathan, Kuzmanovic, Kovacic, Taider, Nagatomo – Alvarez – Palacio.
