Inter vs Napoli preview

It is highly unlikely that both of these teams will be able to keep up with leaders Juventus, meaning that a team that lose this game could be effectively out of the title race.

That should be enough incentive for both Inter and Napoli to give their best at Giuseppe Meazza and record what would be a valuable victory.

With so many first team regulars leaving the club during off season, Inter were predicted a very difficult season, but the mere fact the team are now effectively in the title race shows the predictions have not been spot on.

Using their Europa League campaign to hit the ground running earlier than their Serie A rivals, the Neroazzurri largely impressed in the opening exchanges and went on to record ten straight victories, even beating Juventus in Turin.

Team’s form has since dropped a bit, with Andrea Stramaccioni’s side picking up just one point from three games before finally beating Palermo at home.

The Neroazzurri now aim to prove they deserve such a high position in the standings, and are 2.40 (7/5) with 888sport to see off Napoli.

Antonio Cassano is back to the side after serving a suspension, with the forward 2.65 (33/20) at Sportingbet to score at anytime.

Walter Samuel misses out through suspension, while Ricky Alvarez and Dejan Stankovic are injury doubts.

Wesley Sneijder is again set to be left out, while Cristian Chivu, Joel Obi and Gabi Mudingayi are long-term worries.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-3): Handanovic – Ranocchia, Cambiasso, Juan Jesus – Zanetti, Guarin, Gargano, Nagatomo – Cassano, Milito, Palacio.

After narrowly missing out on a Champions League qualification last term, Napoli were determined to make things right this season, and they were indeed seen as the only genuine title contenders alongside Juventus.

Walter Mazzarri’s side made sure to justify all the praise as they followed the Bianconeri closely from the onset and now sit just two points off the top of the standings.

Their three-match winning run may have been ended by the Europa League defeat to PSV, but that game had no significance for the home side as they had already secured their progress into the next stage.

With star players now set to return to the starting line-up, Napoli are no less than 3.20 (11/5) with BetFred to win this game.

Their top scorer Edinson Cavani, averaging a goal per match this season, is 2.38 (11/8) with Sportingbet to score at Giuseppe Meazza.

Marek Hamsik and Blerim Dzemaili are both doubtful, while Salvatore Aronica is out with an ankle sprain.

Christian Maggio returns from an adductor injury, while Goran Pandev also returns, but is unlikely to start.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): De Sanctic – Gamberini, Cannavaro, Britos – Maggio, Behrami, Inler, Zuniga – Hamsik, Insigne – Cavani.
