Milan vs InterDerby della Madonnina victory may not prove enough to save the season of either Inter Milan or AC Milan, but it would definitely improve the atmosphere in the winning camp ahead of the season finale.

The winner would also keep the slim European hopes alive, so chances are neither side will be lacking motivation to give their best on Sunday evening.

Many believed that the arrival of Roberto Mancini and a number of quality players in the winter would help the Nerazzurri return to the right track, but the team instead continued to struggle and are now in danger of slipping into the bottom half of the standings.

Inter’s European campaign came to an abrupt end as they lost both matches to high-flying Wolfsburg and securing another Europa League qualification could prove mission impossible.

The Nerazzurri finally ended an eight-match winless run as they hammered Hellas Verona on the road, and they are 2.30 (13/10) to see off AC Milan as well.

In spite of the impressive triumph, Inter currently sit huge eight points behind European positions, so they will need a near-perfect finish to the campaign in order to clinch Europa League berth.

Roberto Mancini faces serious selection problems given that Marcelo Brozovic and Fredy Guarin are banned, with Hernanes set to start.

Davide Santon should be recalled to the side after recovering from injury, but Jonathan, Dodo, Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Hugo Campagnaro remain on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-1-2): Handanovic – Ranocchia, Vidic, Juan Jesus – Santon, Hernanes, Medel, D’Ambrosio – Shaqiri – Icardi, Palacio.

This has been another rollercoaster season for AC Milan, with inexperienced coach Pippo Inzaghi failing to bring much needed stability to San Siro.

At times, the Rossoneri showed glimpses of quality, hinting this team has a future, but the lack of consistency has proved to be a major issue.

Following several difficult months, AC Milan have finally shown some improvement, with back to back wins over Cagliari and Palermo seriously improving the dressing room atmosphere.

The good run was short-lived though as the Rossoneri missed a chance to beat top 5 rivals Sampdoria despite largely dominating the proceedings.

AC Milan will have another opportunity to revive their European hopes when they face local rivals Inter Milan, and they are 3.60 (13/5) to emerge victorious.

Mattia Destro and Keisuke Honda are back in contention, but Riccardo Montolivo, Stephan El Shaarawy, Michael Agazzi and Hachim Mastour are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Lopez – Abate, Mexes, Paletta, Antonelli – Van Ginkel, De Jong, Poli – Honda, Menez, Bonaventura.
