Valencia vs Sevilla preview

Valencia enter this game looking to cement the third place in the standings, whereas Sevilla desperately need a win in order to remain in contention for the European places.

Following some impressive performances this season, los Che have suffered a big dip in form that saw them get eliminated from the Champions League, with the 4:0 defeat to Zaragoza definitely the low point of the season.

Club president Manuel Llorente held an emergency meeting with the players and coaching staff and this game will show whether that had any effect.

Valencia’s main goal at the moment is to remain in third place and thus directly qualify for the Champions League group stages, and a win over Sevilla would be a big step towards that objective.

David Albelda is a doubt with a muscle injury, but Aritz Aduriz and Hedwiges Maduro should play after shaking off minor knocks.

David Navarro and Nacho Gonzalez are closing in on their return, but Marius Stankevicius is suspended.

Sevilla currently sit in 8th place, three points adrift of the European places and they simply have got to try and win this game.

Los Rojiblancos ended the good run of results as they lost to Athletic Bilbao, but then managed to hold Barcelona to 1:1 draw, with the good result against the Catalans serving as a major confidence boost.

Keeper Andreas Palop has resumed training, but he is unlikely to make the squad for the Valencia game, unlike Diego Perotti, who should be available.

Alexis and Mouhamadou Dabo are expected to deputize for Martin Caceres and Fernando Navarro.

William Hill sees Valencia as favourites and pay 2.00 (1/1) on home win, with price on Sevilla no less than 4.00 (3/1). Victor Chandler has the best price on draw, 3.60 (13/5).
