Udinese vs Celtic preview

Udinese need just one point from this match to go through to the next stage, whereas Celtic would have to win at Friuli in order to pip the Zebrette to the second place in the group.

After giving us a hint of what they could do last season, Udinese have exploded this term, despite staying without three key players in the summer.

Francesco Guidolin’s side enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, with their Serie A campaign especially impressive.

The Zebrette picked up no less than 30 points from 14 league games, as a result of which they now sit tied on points with leaders Juventus.

On the other hand, in spite of the fact that coach Guidolin had fielded weakened sides in Europa League games, the Friulani took eight points from five group games, and are now on the brink of securing qualification.

Udinese may need just one point to make it through, but they will try to win the game, nevertheless, and you should know that William Hill pays 1.62 (8/13) on home win.

Coach Guidolin is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up, but we should still see a strong side from the hosts.

Maurizio Domizzi remains sidelined, but Giampiero Pinzi and Damiano Feronetti return from domestic suspension.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-1-1): Handanovic – Feronetti, Danilo, Neuton – Basta, Isla, Pinzi, Agyemang-Badu, Armero – Abdi – Di Natale.

Celtic clearly face a mountain to climb as they search for their place in the knockout stages, but they have only themselves to blame for getting into this position.

The Bhoys failed to beat second string Udinese side at their Celtic Park, while losing to Atletico Madrid at the same ground, and now need a miracle in order to make it to the next stage.

Celtic not only face joint Serie A leaders away from home, but they are also looking for their first ever victory on Italian soil, so forgive me if I don’t believe the Bhoys have what it takes to triumph at Friuli.

Coach Neil Lennon says his players are under no pressure to produce a result, but we can still expect the visitors to give their best on Thursday night.

Kris Commons and Joe Ledley remain sidelined, but Kelvin Wilson and Thomas Rogne are back in contention. Adam Mathews remains a doubt.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Forster – Cha, Loovens, Majstorovic, Mulgrew – Wanyama, Brown, Ki, Forrest – Stokes, Hooper.
