Sevilla vs Real Madrid preview

Sevilla are hoping to pour more misery on Real Madrid after los Blancos were beaten in El Clasico at Bernabeu, with Jose Mourinho looking for a response from his players.

After the shock elimination from Europe allowed Sevilla to fully focus on domestic championship, los Rojiblancos enjoyed a bright start to La Liga campaign.

Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side not only won their first four home games, but also brought a point each from every one of their first four travels, with the goalless draw at Camp Nou probably the highest point of the season so far.

However, back to back home defeats to Granada and Athletic Bilbao served as a big blow to the players’ confidence, although the team recently managed to return to the right track and now sit five points behind the fourth-placed Levante.

While Sevilla may not be trusted to beat very good Real Madrid side, they should be able to score at least once, so backing both teams to score at 1.86 (43/50) offered by Unibet looks like a good bet here.

Diego Perotti continues to miss out through injury, whereas Freddy Kanoute will have to wait for his chance on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Javi Varas – Caceres, Fazio, Spahic, Navarro – Rakitic, Medel, Trochowski – Navas, Negredo, Manu.

Real Madrid entered last week’s El Clasico three points clear of Barcelona and with a game in hand, so one could have been forgiven for thinking La Liga race was over when Karim Benzema scored the opening goal after twenty seconds or so.

However, los Blancos managed to lose the game, thus ending the 15-match winning run and everybody is waiting to see how Jose Mourinho’s men are going to respond.

Having won six of eight away games in La Liga, Real Madrid will fancy their chances against Sevilla, although odds of 1.44 (4/9) offered by Ladbrokes do not represent a real value for money.

Jose Mourinho has been working hard this week on lifting the players’ spirits after the disappointing defeat to fierce rivals Barcelona and this match is going to show whether he has succeeded in his quest.

The Portuguese manager is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up, with Sami Khedira and Kaka expected to start, but Alvaro Arbeloa remains injury doubt and Ricardo Carvalho is sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Casillas – Coentrao, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo – Khedira, Alonso – Di Maria, Kaka, Ronaldo – Higuain.
