PSG vs MonacoReigning champions Paris Saint-Germain will attempt to dislodge Ligue 1 leaders Monaco from the top of the standings and prove they are again main candidates for the league trophy.

However, it is the newly promoted side that have the psychological advantage at the moment, having picked up no less than 13 points from first five league fixtures.

Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t lift the league title at the first attempt following the arrival of wealthy Qatari owners, but they made things right last term, when they impressed on both domestic and European stage.

While getting rid of some dead weight, the Saints have continued to recruit some of world’s best players, signing Edinson Cavani, Marquinhos and Lucas Digne this summer.

The team, nonetheless, had a pretty slow start to the season, having produced an under-par showing in the French Super Cup before only mustering 1-1 draws with Montpellier and Valenciennes.

However, they have since shown a considerable improvement, winning three straight league fixtures before they hammered Olympiakos at the start of their Champions League campaign.

As a result, the Saints are brimming with confidence at the moment and are considered 1.85 (17/20) favourites at Coral to make it five on the trot.

Jeremy Menez has returned into action after recovering from injury, but Javier Pastore is not yet ready to return to the side.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Sirigu – Van der Wiel, Alex, Silva, Maxwell – Verratti, Motta, Matuidi – Lucas, Ibrahimovic, Cavani.

Monaco have made quite a splash in the transfer market after the wealthy businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev completed the club takeover and they had no problems returning to France’s top flight.

The Principality Club have been extremely busy in the summer window, signing Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, Geoffroy Kodogbia, Ricardo Carvalho and Eric Abidal, among others, but nobody expected they would be able to immediately hit the ground running.

Monaco, nonetheless, impressed in the opening exchanges, picking up no less than 13 points from first five matches.

Having defeated both Bordeaux and Marseille on the road, Claudio Ranieri’s side have reason to hope for a good result at Parc des Princes, and they are 5.00 (4/1) at Betfred to continue their winning run.

After scoring 4 goals in his first 5 matches for the club, Radamel Falcao Garcia is 3.00 (2/1) at 888sport to further improve his scoring record.

Jeremy Toulalan is not yet ready to return from an adductor injury, while Nabil Dirar, Nacer Barazite and Valere Germain are also out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Subasic – Fabinho, Carvalho, Abidal, Kurzawa – Obbadi, Kondogbia – Ocampos, Moutinho, Ferreira Carrasco – Falcao.
